New Image Extensions




I love image extensions! Did you know that google ads data shows that when an ad has an "image extension" associated with it the user is more likely to click the "image" as apposed to the headline? You can see that data in your ads when you run an image extension as well, pretty cool! The image is what "attracts their attention"! Interesting. Unfortunately, not all industries are allowed to utilize image extensions. This is seen if your industry "falls" outside of the requirements google ad requirement such as medical, hospital, drug, law use etc. Also, your campaign has to be running constantly for over 90 days. You should at least run 3 images and they should be very relevant to attract the user. It should go along with your ad copy. See image of garage door repair above. The only downfall I can see to image extensions if for some reason a low quality image is used or it is completely irrelevant as it might deter a potential customer.

I am a big believer in extensions on all my ads. Extensions provide other avenues for the user to become a lead by clicking on an extension. There are 3-4 top extensions that are a must with most industries.

  1. Sitelink Extensions. Site Extensions are links you can add with a brief description that leads to a specific page within your website. These are beneficial if you want to promote a specific promotion to a specific group of people (say Veterans) and you want the user to go specifically to that page to convert.

  2. Call Extensions. The best way to track a phone call within google ads is to add a call extension. If phone calls are a big part of your sales process then call extensions is a must!

  3. Callout Extensions. These are 2 to 3 words and are beneficial in that they can quickly call to a specific feature you offer. For example, if you are a garage door specialist you may want to use a few callouts such as: repair openers, repair cables, repair rollers, repair tracks. This will show the user a quick view of what they may need. These should be your most popular services.

  4. Image Extensions. These are new and are so very fun if the proper images are shown. These are best if you can showcase a specific service "in action" or if you are a dental office you could showcase your building and signage or your team!

All these extensions are a great way to help increase your quality score as well as your relevance in google ads and help increase your CTR and your end user will more likely become a quality lead!
